Broadsword shrinks. Morning Star's now the Longest?

  • Is this rite? Broadsword was the longest weapon in MAAs arsenal.
    Look at the stats…

Broadswords now the same reach as Norse sword?

If nothing has been changed, good never mind.
    If so …why?

  • There could be a mistake on this wiki. Have you checked IG? I haven’t been around for the past week so I couldn’t tell ya. but IIRC, the norse sword has a lower reach than the broadsword. I think there is a mistake on the wiki.

  • It’s honestly best to disregard all these numbers shown on the website, wiki and such because it isn’t a true representation of the facts.

There are 2 different lengths you can talk about:

    1. The physical weapon model length.

    2. The maximum distance in units, at which damage can occur, because of the animation or placement of the hand on a weapon.

A weapon can be longer physically, but have less range than a shorter weapon for a particular attack, because of the way it is held in the hand, or how the animation plays or how far the arm extends.

I would put the range of every attack on the spreadsheet, but the Cvar for showing maximum distance at which damage occurs is currently broken and half of the text appears off-screen, so I can’t actually see the value.

In terms of physical weapon length, the Broadsword is longer than the Morning Star, which in turn, is longer than the Norse Sword; how this translates to animations and placement of the hand on the weapon, I currently don’t know for the reason stated previously, but I’d hazard a guess that is how it would be in actual damage to distance.

  • IIRC, the wiki also said the longsword was considerably longer than the sword of war. Ever since I read that, I’ve pretty much disregarded it as any kind of credible source.

Broadsword feels longer than the Norse sword to me, and I use both a lot. That’s all that matters to me.

  • @Martin:

I would put the range of every attack on the spreadsheet, but the Cvar for showing maximum distance at which damage occurs is currently broken and half of the text appears off-screen, so I can’t actually see the value.

    When will it be fixed?

  • Broadsword and Morning star are about equal in reach, with the Morning star having very slightly more reach. (But this is only true if you use stab with the Morning Star, Broad Sword stab has more reach than Morning Star overhead) Norse Sword is quite a bit shorter than the Broad Sword.

  • Range depends on how you swing anyway, both animation-wise and mouse drag-wise. With the Broadsword overhead especially, you’re only going to hit max reach at the very end of the attack because of how your character swings it, but you’ll always get more reach on a normal or extended overhead than on a lookdown overhead, for example. The sMorningstar overhead simply reaches its max reach faster than the Broadsword as it swings pretty much identically to the Dane Axe.

I haven’t noticed any difference in the reach from past months, however.
