I hope I'm not the only one, but…

  • Would anyone else love to see the vanguard be able to use the secondary sword and mace tree, and for the knight, the axe tree? Were these classes given the secondary weapons they have now for balance or for character(vanguard is a rough beserker=axes, knight is knightly=swords)? I don’t know why it would be for balance though…because swords and maces aren’t necessarily more powerful than axes. Honestly, I’d love to have a shortsword knight, but that would probably be too much. I don’t think it would overshadow MaA, because MaA aren’t about the weapons they use. For MaA, it’s about the speed and the dodge mechanic. This is coming from someone who has mainly played MaA, just to be sure.

On a sidenote, I love the polehammer. But, as it is now, it’s just a slower, shorter greatsword. I think it needs a slight speed buff, or it needs to be longer.

P.S. It’s been bothering me for awhile, but the vanguard on the cover(I guess) art appears to have a broadsword…so, come on! Please!

  • I’m afraid you are probably the only one. And when I pictures berserker I picture axes.

  • Why would you not want more options? If I’m the only who’s thought this, then that just makes me sad.

  • @Ranulf:

Because people want class diversity that’s why.

  • But, it’s the primary weapons and class abilities that set classes apart…Since, all classes share secondary weapons. So, I don’t see the problem.

If vanguards had broadswords I´d probably quit the game already…

  • Why…? :(

  • I always wanted to…

  • I’m going to repeat the above and go with class diversity, it would be pretty boring if both heavy classes could use every secondary. Just imagine a knight with a dagger! If one of those face hugs you with it good luck!

And I’m talking in terms of after they fix kick and parry, as of now that would be a great solution to Maa and archers.

As well, you would never need to touch MAA or archer to unlock all of the MAA’s weapons.

  • Why would it be boring?

A knight with a dagger is out of the question and it wasn’t what I was asking for anyways. If you’re gonna repeat class diversity, then I’m gonna repeat that class diversity isn’t associated with secondary weapons. It is associated with primary weapons and/or class abilities.

  • Secondary weapons = MAA’s primary

But i guess if you want all the knight and vangaurds secondaries, you can always play Man at arms. The point is to make you play other classes, if you want a mace and armor, play knight, if you want an axe with armor, play vanguard.

  • Out of the 350+ hours that I’ve played, they were spent mostly playing MaA, so I’m a bit tired of playing MaA. And, I really love playing vanguard and knight now. As I said before, the MaA class isn’t about the weapons, it’s about the speed and dodge. But, I understand what you’re saying. I just really want a broadsword/morningstar vanguard, or a dane axe/hatchet(maybe even shortsword?probably not) knight, and think it would be lots of fun. I see no balance problems with it. It’d be cool if there could be a poll for this, but I don’t think that many people are looking at this thread. :(

  • Sure I’m fine with Knights and Vanguards having a bit of fun with new weapon tree’s to use.

As long as the MaA gets to use the Warhammer somehow.

Haha, that’s something I always wanted too. The warhammer is too small for the knight; however, it’s too powerful for MaA. :D

A knight with fast weapons and a vanguard with long high damaging secondary weapons?

    I call that unbalancing.

  • It’s not unbalancing though, because knights already have fast weapons (Holy Water Sprinkler, Broadsword, Norse Sword) and vanguards already have a long, high damaging secondary weapon. (Dane axe).

Not to mention that their primary swords are still respectively quick themselves.

Quite so. The sword of war, bearded axe, flail and longsword are all fairly quick on the swing.

  • Anyone else wanna weigh in? :(
