    • RE: Controversial spot for King in ThroneRoom

      … or the 2nd highest ranked player thinking to be king themselves …

      I don’t think you can do anything wrong AS king

      Of course you can, you can charge straight to the enemy spawn exit. But you are right in that 99% of the times king gets killed it is because the team failed to properly protect him. Which is why I usually decline king roles, since I feel I can be more effective as a bodyguard and it involves much less hassle if Agatha lose (and I already have the King of Kings achievement).

    • RE: Stage 1 of darkforest is too hard

      @Peter:

      @Xylvion:

      Part 2 is the hardest part on dark forest, as mason that is.

      I think I can agree with that, even though I don’t play mason as long as I don’t unbalance the teams by joining Agatha.
      The masons usually win the map, but when they lose it’s usually on Stage 2. But then again, if they get through stage 2, Agatha is most likely about to lose their royals within minutes.

      That is my experience as well, though technically it is a bit strange, since both the Sluice Gates and the Royal Family part is actually very easy to defend with just a tiny bit of coordination.

      Problem is of course that coordination almost never happens on pubs (in all modesty I have coordinated a few memorable objective C defences which took a losing Agatha team to victory after 15 mins of holding last objective, but those are extremely rare exceptions).

      It is as strange as that first objective on Hillside. If the masons actually defended objective Agatha does not have a chance no matter how organised they are, simply because masons spawn closer. But fortunately for agatha masons almost never defend the actual objective on that stage and thus surprisingly often manage to light the fire by sneaking in.

      @clayton-bigsby:

      besides, that’s not even possible. Firepots don’t hurt peasan’ts or the royal family.

      They do. You just need more than one pot to kill them. They can also destroy doors protecting royal peasants.

    • RE: Something has to be done about this.

      @Xylvion:

      There’s one player in EU who plays 180 FOV 3rd person and he’s pretty damn awesome at it if I may say. At least people whine on him every single game, because he kills everyone and blocks them as well.

      A very good example of how it can be exploited and why it should be capped.

      lag is pretty much killing my fun nowadays.

      Lag has always been part of the Chivalry experience, but it does seem to have become much worse lately.

      No, just my tolerance level dropped.

      No, lag has increased. Especially on the official servers.

    • RE: New competitive melee game?

      @SavageBeatings:

      (yes, it’s in alpha, mr. Apicius, that’s why it’s lacking in stuff! They’re gonna have a lot of customization, they said, and other features. Right now it’s just three classes and two maps, I’m sure they won’t release it like that ;) )

      Not quite sure you are replying to the correct poster here. I haven’t said anything about the game not being alpha or that it lacks all kind of things.

      I like Mount and Blade, because you can control your character more easily than Chivalry.

      However, I tried the Alpha of War of the Viking. I thought it would be as bad as War of the Rose but I was wrong, it is fucking amazing with newly added dodge and special attack. Look like they learned from Chivalry…

      Yes agree…
      Check out the video of gameplay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH8J3VrJKdE
      Notice the stamina bar and the run/ trip mechanism.

      Yes, it does look like a complete rip-off of Chivalry, only with less gore and less general entertaining sillness like epic voice messages (which suggests a shorter longevity for the game). But at least it will be an acceptable alternative when DW has split the community and vanilla servers are getting scarce.

    • RE: Forget anything I have ever said needs to be fixed

      Indeed. Voice chat is never used in this game for a reason. You can communicate perfectly well with typed chat and voice messages. Use skype or Steamchat if you want to communicate with your friends.

      It would simply be annoying as hell to have some non-stop chatting players discussing the crusades or some armchair general spewing useless commands that noone heeds when a simple teamtyped “treb 3” or “lower ballista” does the trick just as good. It is just not that type of game and it would destroy the fun atmosphere created by the excellent sound effects and voice messages.

      Don’t forget about the people that lurk in spectate and mic spam, then when you vote to kick them people vote no because there is no idle time displayed on kick only team damage.

      Yeah, I wonder why they removed the idle time on the votekicking? It is almost impossible to get afks kicked now.
