He means you won’t be able to see individual frames past that. Which is a true fact. No flicker. You get two TVs one at 90 FPS the other at 120 FPS and people will notice that there is a difference. But they cannot reliably day which one is which. It will be 50 50. 60-90 hoe EE is a different story most people will be able to get that right.
another strange thing. You take your hand in front of your face and shake it all around. It blurs in front of your eyes. You record that same hand shacking at 400 FPS and play it back real time on a 400hz screen and you won’t see it blur at all. Or at least not nearly as much depending on how fast you are moving your hand. That’s a really strange thing to see. Smoother than reality. But smoother Han reality starts at around 45 FPS for a person. However that actually varies a lot with things like tiredness and adrenalin swinging that value between 30 and 60.
Do you really believe what you are saying? 100fps feels laggy to me compared to 120 or even 144fps. I don’t think you need eagle-eyes or be smart to feel the difference.

agreed, the vanilla maps are way better. they are just straight forward, play differently and run flawlessly for the most part. the community maps are all nice to look at but not that solid gameplay wise. if we want better maps we need to need to judge community made maps by gameplay and not just graphics and vote for those instead. changing the default map rotation could help already and make em appear less common maybe this is sth they can change after all even if they drop “main” patches now.
also i wouldn’t get my hopes too high for chiv2 this is what i had to read few days ago in response to ue4 project

I can just barely notice a difference between 120hz and 144hz. I also tried running the game at 120hz but it actually felt choppy while 120fps @ 144hz doesn’t. I guess without V-sync “max fps” always feels a bit choppy even with minimal frametime variance.
i found it kinda awkward but i made the same observations, 120hz feels more stuttery even though game is capped at 120fps online anyways, in theory playing 120hz without vsync should be the best if u can get a completely stable framerate but most of the times u can’t and since u still can get the all 120 frames with 144hz but simply drawn in more parts u should at least still see it more cleary or with a faster response time then, forcing 120fps on 144hz leads to some kind of stuttering but the jumpiness of fps alone probably compensates for that. the more hz the better and i am anyways to lazy to change it in windows every time since i havn’t found the proper refresh rate setting in ini file yet.
also can anyone eloborate on the new animation lod option in graphics menu? is it bound to distance only?

can only confirm… once again i have less fps than pre patch and the html menu hasn’t changed anything about that even if the patch notes would like to indicate that, the newly added skins from the fantasy contest surely don’t help much either.
i have even tried turning the basic shadows off but even after that i struggle to get 120fps i got 120 straight before with big margins partially, on classic maps already… ffs, excluding battlegrounds.
basically already having everything set to low but only character models to high which in some regards already makes it look like a good n64 game xD. sometimes i open the game and it is smooth. not only does every patch make it worse, it feels like everytime i start the game i either get it working or not.
no placebo, it is pretty borked and tb should seriously release a real performance patch to clean up the junk…

on a lot of maps i manage to run the game at almost 120fps constantly with lowered settings…
then again on maps like battleground i even get dips below 60 nowadays… runs extremely horrible for me, especially when playing mason and looking down the hill, observed with better hardware and strongly reduced graphic settings compared to a few month ago.
some of the newly added community maps like the one that starts in the swamp also run utterly bad for the most part.
get the performance at least back to where it has been already TB pls, also i wish i could go over 120 just like in offline mode but that’s a different kind of topic and probably unnecessary to demand when it already fails at 60fps right now.

according to reviews the Asus VG248qe seems to be the only competitor for true 144hz and 120hz since it supposedly has an average response time of ~5ms without having any artifacts/inverse ghosting/rtc errors going on.
yes it is a late 2012 model but there is still nothing better and monitor manufacutres are making us wait.
If i bought a 144hz, and soon i will, i would not buy a display that only offers somewhat inverse ghosting free experience in return for +8ms response time when the refresh rate is already set at 7 or 8ms.
of course a 8ms response time display with a 8ms refresh rate is “faster” or at least seem more fluid than a 8ms response time display with a 16ms (60hz) refresh rate, but then u will spend all your time just watching the picutre getting drawn and it will have it barely finished when the screen refreshes again.
with the Asus VG248QE u seem to get almost crt alike ghosting free experience…
on a crt 60hz display you spend 16ms watching each frame, ok with pulsing lights but this does only make it better while with the horrible lcd displays nowadays you would much rather spend time watching the picture get drawn than the picture itself. lol
then of course there is the lightboost/motion blur stuff witch works better or rather natively on the BenQ models while they all do suffer from inverse ghosting as well (a firmware is supposed to help against that but most models in eu get delivered with v1 and modifying it should anyways void the warranty anyways), but this requieres the fps to constatnly run at the refresh rate.
surely it is a nice effect but practically unusable for most demanding and mp games.
actually the BenQ Xl2411Z,XL2420Z and the XL2720Z as well as the Asus VG248QE and the Aoc g2460pqu allegedly all have the same exact same panel but still they do do differ at response times.

the patch is one the best chivalry has ever recieved and i am seriously wondering why it has taken so long.
so when i started the game first at that point of time when the patch got released and joined a server i’ve stumbled across the usual real (team) balance problems:
hordes of rank 40 players in one team, in the other just sub 20 a few higher. seriosuly?
how would one seriously try to improve balance when not even considering “auto balancing”- wtf
balance patch, far from it.
also the biggest issue i have with the game, and which makes it more and more unenjoyable is the fact that there is also no ping limit and nothing to balance anything in that regard.
i hate it being killed by someone just because he has a high ping. try to read his movement but you simply cant.
i am not picky but 100ms ping is way too much for chivalry, when i play with 20ms ping why should i be the one getting punished when some hobo is stupid enough or deliberetaly joining “my” server with a +5 frames difference in latency when he could just join some fucking us server or whatever.
really fix this shit.
i want a working and reasonable ping limit (i know torn banner wants as many customers as possible but there simply is no reason in 2014 and also judging by the amount of servers to have a ping like that, and why sanction the ones that match the connection speed the game requieres than other way round?)
… yeah and real auto balancing.

No, there are a lot of ppl who need to play with a high fov to “to do fancy draggings or for getting a good awareness of their surrounding” as i have said… Skill is not a preference.
Btw, i am Sophax. Nope, just kidding! I am just curious cause i thought this game has lost its competetive scene a long while ago, and how can be somebody be the best in that game, the best in abusing animations? i don’t get it but nvm lol

playing with 120 is already a mess, it might give u an advantage but it just looks weird and since i am not playing quake i consider it rather pointless.
i am playing with 105 myself, u barely get the fisheye lense effect while still having a great vision.
everybody who needs to play with ridicously high fov to do fancy draggings or for getting a good awareness of their surrounding is in fact, just playing bad.

not that i wouldn’t have the time or the wish to post constructive feedback but besides having a tremendous amount of maps to test, nobody is ever playing on these so called testing servers…

nice to see you’re actually trying to implement what the community has been demanding for a long time!
the last patch for dw wasn’t huge but it did very good! (sadly still missing shadows, and sometimes weird fps behavior)
-didn’t u change the cameria sight there as well as it it felt like that though not being noted in the update news?!
if feedback is positive, please don’t forget to transfer these patches partially to dw as well, as this is what i am mainly playing and finding superior whilst! (besides the missing to support)
love to see the feint debuff, bubble size reduction etc there as well…
-and if we’re at it, what about updating mw with the hit zone system from dw as well, for me it is a clear improvement.
and a reason not to play mw anymore.

+1 for the bubble thing, especially when sprinting, it is very annoying
just had a duel on an lts server with some random enemy team mate and obviously fool who was standing inbetween us fighters, that i could barely move and i felt like that i should have had more control though, really felt being slightly pushed away when attacking offensivley which probably was while sprinting,
-and also i agree with that hunting an enemy player can sometimes be very annoying, even if your chasing and looking at him, receiving the speed bonus, the different running speeds from the different classes in general plus the collusion bubble sometimes leads to hits in the air, and im not talking of smart player movement neither but even if somebody just straight running away while your almost directly behind him.

mainly i am playing dw and whilst it’s getting annoying, i find the game more entertaining and the combat system to be an improvement in most aspects but so many things are still unfixed, and i wont even bother about posting it all cause me and other already have, like en mass.
-i’ve seen the blog about optimization and stuff, so i would be glad to hear maybe some dev response and get some insight on whats actually going on and being patched or not, concerning dw as well obviously, cause i believe dw is beginning to starve a little in the way it needs some tweaking and fixing imo, i’m still having fun but there are many let downs which make it less competitive and playable which are simple things like netcode and pings, the ui beginning from kick votes to a voice chat are missing and clearly unfinished, gameplay wise team balancing syste acts weird, often as a player you’re like not being able to retreat weapons, auto switiching to bare hands when using quickthrow, being unable to move after having kicked in too many instances and so on, of course weapon balancing animation and damage wise is also not really finished, there is a lot of weird fps behavior, probably server and client wise, and a few but important graphical glitches like missing or black textures, missing shadows for the very most of the time on seemingly random players, also secondary weapons sometimes permantely glitching in your sight…
besides that, optionally, i would like a working steam workshop integration for dw sometime as well and i would truely love to play the old to maps especially if there aren’t any new to come, when the “coding changes” are done or whatever it was.
keep the updates coming guys!

+1 heavy fps drops, were an issue before already but seem to have worsend -.-
resetting settings doesn’t help cause the game is the issue
what about patches anyways? did they forget about dw? countless bugs… what about fixing f kicking with viking when having 2hand axe equipped or ninjas being unmovable too after a kick? etc etc etc
pre patch, sometimes it helped minimizing and opening up the game again, eliminating weird fps behavior
