WTF, why is that backwards? It should be reverse and encourage the archer to have risks and be closer to their targets for more damage. If any Archer nerf happened, I would hope its to their javelins, and not their bows. Or even adjust (wouldn’t want it nerfed) their melee weapons.

Oh yeah, games code has been shit since day one. Adding more has made it worse. I’ve swung right through people with no damage, and had the same happen to me. It happens regularly on most servers I play on at some point during a game session.
As for how much more intense the collision detection is - yes its more complex then a bullet trace, but not much beyond it really. They just did it poorly and never optimized it to begin with.

I think the TB network code is horrible in general. It’s been explained in detail by the people making Slashering. Basically, they could smooth out everything and cut the latency in half if they did the code correctly the first time. At this point the code would likely need to be rewritten entirely, so instead of doing that its a better company choice to work on the next game. Sucks for us while we are waiting for the next game, but business is business for them.

I’ve had a similar problem on less occasion. A couple times I did manage to alt tab out after waiting for over ten minutes. The window couldn’t be removed, but I noticed it had an error message dealing with steamwebhelper.exe. With the latest patch its gone away, but I still get an annoying breakpoint popup and then the game will occasionally become unplayable (see my bug post).
Game lag extreme edition
Since the last three or four patches there has been an occasional bug I’ve noticed, and with this last patch I can’t play for more then 30 minutes without it showing up. For no reason I can see at all the game simply becomes unplayable, as if a massive lag spike is constantly happening. Out of five seconds, I’ll get one or two of smooth play, and the rest is a frozen screen. I was also noticing sometimes it comes with a steam web helper error. With this patch it almost always bring up the browser to the latest Torn Banner news.
If I had to guess, I think the game is forcing the latest news to try and popup. I don’t think that should be happening when I’m mid battle.

I’ve had this happen with any weapon lately. I’ve straight swung through someone with an overhead zwei right in the middle of the enemy body.
More TO for Mercs mod?
Can this be a thing please? I don’t understand why so many of the servers are duel only, or ffa only (which people use to dual). It’s cool for testing and stuff, but TO or TDM I’ve always enjoyed more. Duels get boring pretty fast for me, and I would like to try out mercs with TO maps.
RE: Nerf archers' ranged combat damage against melee classes
I’m fine with archers having the melee they have. Realistically, an archer using a warbow would be as strong or stronger than the knight using the maul… Game logic wise, their move speed and swing speeds aren’t that bad. I’m in agreement with a lot of the easier changes to them, like stamina drain from shooting, swapping xbow and bow shot distance (xbow is historically a close range weapon due to its small and heavy bolts).
My main beef with the archer hate is when ragers refer to fighting archers, it’s like its only those two in a long hallway. Most maps are open battlefields. Archers at a long distance sniping have to make very hard leading shots assuming you stay on the same course for 1-2 seconds for it to even have a chance of hitting. At closer distance, they have to worry about incoming enemies plus other archers. Only time they have no fear of melee is in a TO map where they spawn in a base and even then on a couple of them melee can sneak in.
I’d say maybe 1 in 10 deaths is from an archer. I get tk’d more overall, and the rest are from ending up in a 1v3+, getting outplayed, or the server doesn’t register something correctly.
