Having 1k+ hours on Chivalry, I’m actually pleasantly surprised at how good combat and movement feels. Everyone always complains about game speed when they first play chivalry, Mirage is no different. I’m also guessing it’s worst since people see the Overwatch-esque graphics and expect the same fast paced gameplay. To everyone who’s complaining about speed, you’ll get use to it. This is how a skill based melee FPS game is supposed to be. If you want mindless killing as fast as possible, go play a hack and slasher.
I also support longer ability cooldowns. The main focus of this game is the weapon combat. Having longer cool downs allows abilities to supplements the core gameplay instead of distracting from it. Also it forces players to use it more strategically instead of mindlessly spamming them.
It is funny that you say people are used to the fast paced gameplay of Overwatch because I clearly stated Mirage is as slow as Overwatch. I don’t know where you get that myth from Overwatch would be fast?! It is slow as fuck.
And I couldn’t disagree more when you say low speed would mean more skill based because it is the opposite. Low speed makes it extremely easy because you have so much time to react and plan your moves. The faster it is, the less time you have, the better your mechanic skill must be to compete.
It is also funny how you never played good Hack and Slays, because otherwise you would know how incredible complex they are.
And just fyi: People who are stating they played 1k hours or something before they post are nothing more than funny because your posts clearly shows again it means nothing. Although I am sure you think it does. This thread is about gameplay design philosophy, not about balance or similar. And even then, unless you are one of the players of the top Chivalry competitive teams, your input on balance is not more relevant than the one from a complete rookie.
Also when your argument is abilities should not distract from core combat gameplay, then the abilities should be removed entirely. Right now it is a middleground which is the worst solution.
