    • RE: What do we want to see in the next TB game?

      If they add magic, pls add special armor powerups or pieces for different elemental resistances. Oh man, this is exciting. I’ve been dreaming about a game with Chiv combat with a fantasy/magic element to it.

      @Retsnom:

      OR…. you could rent your own server, in your own location or as close as you can. that way you will have admin, low ping and control who plays on your server. Check out NFO Nuclear Fall Out game servers. I have had quite a few server hosts over the 10+ years of hosting servers and they by far have one of the best web portals, ease of set up, and lots of locations and the best/fastest customer service I have seen and used over the last 4+ years.

      https://www.nfoservers.com/order.php?referrer=kila

      Check them out, we are about to host our second server there which will be a 12 person, OPEN MERCs dual server. It is like $30 for 3 months of hosting a 12 player server. So quit your whining and host your own damn server like We do.

      I appreciate the back handed good advice. $10/mo ain’t too bad actually. Thing is I have the hardware and bandwidth to host my own from my house; it’s just a matter of taking the time to set it up. As far as this being a solution for those who have the money/time/other resources to host or rent their own server, it’s perfectly legitimate. However, it doesn’t address the core issue of vote kick abuse/server hijacking, which was more to my point.

      Thanks again though. I’ll consider it.

      @loin:

      Its quite simple to pin a mesage on the steam hub informing players caught highjacking servers are banned globally for
      2 weeks on first offence , if caught after that its final ban.

      Loin you are so interestingly strange. Thanks for the feedback.

    • Server hijacking is still a thing, apparently

      Can’t stay in a low pop server with lower ranks for more than a minute without getting vote kicked. happens whether i kill people or not. Happens even if I offer advice to help.

      Is the listen server option not obvious enough for players who want to host their own little circle jerk?

      It’s hard enough to find a server < 100 ping NOT full and NOT a low rank server.

      Pls add more servers, reduce low rank servers, or make vote limits for 4 or fewer players on a server.

      This shit is really irritating.

      “I’m bad and don’t want to learn to gitgud I want to go 55-5 against noobs 24/7 and rage quit when a pro joins”

      Drags are easy to beat and deal with. “Spinning” gets you killed by good players.

      Yep. Stop complaining and adapt.

      I’m still curious as to what other “exploits” OP is referring.

    • RE: Drags & Feints

      I cannot believe this thread is still going. A mod should have shut it down long ago for animal cruelty (beating the horse).

      The same points just keep getting repeated over and over again. I’ve yet to see a suggestion as to how TheRadiant would nerf feints, since you claim to not be arguing for their removal.

      Removing or modifying feints for the purpose of making the game more predictable or “safer” would make it so very boring. The fun in it is the risk. The greater the risk, the greater the reward. That’s competition.

      And enough with the “comp scene is dead” nonsense. It’s bigger than ever.

      It has been said countless times now, but I’ll say it again. Feints have been here since the beginning and it’s obvious they are not going to change (nor should they). Your only choice, if you want to continue playing, is to step the fuck up and learn. I promise you will feel much better knowing you have the skills to do something about it rather than continuing this dead argument on the forums.

    • RE: Drags & Feints

      The only thing I agree with TheRadiant on is that feints are the easiest move to execute. All you have to do is press a button, and the chances are higher that you’ll get a panic parry than if you were to try it with head bobbing, jumping, or any of the other countless techniques players use.

      However, nowadays so many players are getting better at predicting feints you’re forced to change it up and not be predictable with them. So there is skill involved with executing feints efficiently. I hear players all the time say things like “that was a good feint” because they are recognizing it to be well timed and not as predictable.

      As far as them being OP, I don’t know what you expect to have changed. They already reduced the feint window and removed panic parry. I think they are fine as is. So does almost every other high skilled player I play with. I simply see a lack of desire to adapt like everyone else. I would think differently if some of our oldest vets who honestly care about game balance shared in your belief of them being OP, but they don’t.

      Slibb, I’m not even going to dignify that thoughtless post with a response. Too much knee jerk reacting and single phrase quoting stuff going on. You’re not actually interested in making a point.

      Well, I guess that was technically a response.

      LOL @ “molesting this dead horse” like I seriously audibly laughed out loud alone in my dark room.

      @gndo:

      Uhh, guys why are we still arguing about feints, it’s 2015.

      While I agree with this highly informative and constructive post, yes the controversy surrounding feints has not changed. It dies down for a while, but then someone gets killed by a last minute feint and flocks to the forums to vent. And so the perpetual feints are cheap-no they aren’t whinefest continues.

      While we are on the subject of pointless complaining, I’d like to go ahead and state that some of my coworkers are passive aggressive assholes, I’m forced to pay for health insurance, and I get up every day to pay for some freeloading lazy scumlord who would rather straddle everything resembling a cylindrical blunt object and do a horrible job of taking care of their own spawn.

    • RE: Drags & Feints

      Feint is the ESSENTIAL wildcard move used to break up the monotony of simply parrying over and over into oblivion, or turning the game into a stam war. I think they are absolutely necessary for balance. They also allow for ftp and cftp as well as canceling attacks when you are about to mistakenly hit your teammate. ESSENTIAL.

      They do not turn fights into a mindless guessing game, although I completely understand why some players see it this way. The fact of the matter is there is a lot of strategy… hell most of it is strategy. You have to pay attention to your opponents moves and note their patterns. There is a lot of learning on the fly, especially when fighting unfamiliar players. Heeding this very fundamental strategy is the first step to dealing with feints.

      YES, norse, sow, dagger, etc… stab feints are MUCH harder to read. Nearly impossible with enough latency. However, I have dueled countless high level players who some how manage to do it. Point is if you are watching your opponent carefully you absolutely can predict their feints and punish them with “gambles”. And I really hate that word “gamble”. Like it’s so taboo. Yeah, I “gamble” all the time, because I am predicting feints based on my opponents’ patterns. It’s a perfectly legitimate move.

      I’m digressing.

      I have to agree completely with Rets on the nature of feints. They are intended to fool you. It adds a wildcard element to the game which makes it that much more challenging and interesting. I actually love having some unpredictability. It just feels better. Those who are complaining that it takes away the reaction element seem to just want to be able to know everything that’s going to happen. Like you want to feel safer or something. That’s boring as hell.

      Furthermore, the whole point is to somehow force your opponent to screw up. It’s like chess. Carefully thought out moves in attempt to make your opponent screw up. Drags, feints, odd movements, standing still, head bobbing, bla bla the list goes on and on. These are all different ways players have found to force your opponent to parry. And they aren’t going to just go away. Your best option is to have your buddies feint your dick off until you learn how to deal with them. And you absolutely CAN deal with them.
