Such a friendly forum full of experts willing to share their knowledge.
The little kids with little kid thought processes have taken over the forum. More mature and actually insightful people need to speak up.
I would rather wait for the bubble changes to take effect because they could help the Warhammer and Flails (and all other short onehanded weapons) a lot.
The onehanded Longsword actually seems allright and is probably more underused than underpowered - the Broadsword being hyped and overrated might have something to do with this. The trade reach vs. speed seems okay to me at least in Knight vs. Knight - MaA got dodge to reduce any reach advantage* though. But its not fair to compare the Knight with a onehanded Longsword and a MaA with a Broadsword including dodge. Knight Broadsword vs Knight 1H Longsword works fine in my opinion: Its power (DPS) versus utility (reach/dragging).
The onehanded SoW on the other side is basically a weaker version of the onehanded Longsword as the stab that is supposed to be its advantage doesn’t translate into one (same HTK) and its only barely faster with its strikes (0.05s shorter release) while losing both damage and reach here.
*One reason why the (back) dodge distance should be shorter. I think the Broadsword is only an issue because of the bubble and this long dodge distance.
For some reason the bubble is now pushing players away more than before, and one handers have very little range now…
Allow attack out of block, instead of having to wait to put the shield down. This should help shield play. Of course, keep the current lock timers in play so that animation cancelling doesnt’ come back
Another possibility is to allow blocking where the shield is for the first 0.2 seconds of your windup. Would this be a possible good idea on combos as well?
Possibility to swap hands for shield. This would make sense for attacking team for 2nd objective on stoneshill and such. This would probably take awhile to implement.
This sounds like a great idea. You should be able to strike with shield up but with limited visibility.
All of the vanguard two-handers need a nerf. They have everything: speed, damage and range plus glitchy animations the mislead their victims.
Please don’t use this word. Its reserved for WARSAW.
There seems to be a sound played for sprinting flail Knights - the MaA sound - it maybe stuck because in one beta everyone had MaA voice commands.
As for the strength: Leave it some time. We just got shield buffs (which helped the flail setups), new animations (which helped the flail setups) and there will (probably) be a collision radius decrease (which helps flail setups). Flails can already be used effectively in close quarters because you can use two arms to attack - at a significant speed difference no less.
If they were to be buffed a combo time decrease would probably me the best idea as it causes the least competition issues.
Attacks go through the heater shield. It’s really easy to put your shield out and aim reasonably well, and have attacks go through. And the range and speed of the flail are horribly slow… How can you not concede this? The range got shorter for some reason. How come the vanguards get super speed, range and damage and decent health while the flail gets only minute adjustments?
I like the heater shield and the new animations. But I’m noticing some crippling problems for the flail knight now…
There is no range on that flail. Please increase the range because it’s almost impossible to beat good vanguards. I have to get RIGHT in their face to hit (only to be met with a parry of course).
Flail speed. It’s so slow. At least make the combo times really fast. Right now it’s moving like molasses compared to vanguard 2handers…
Bug: When sprinting as a flail knight, there is no sound played. Please fix this.
In summary: Flails need a serious buff.
What about adding it as an option instead of replacing the current buckler? This would give the Flail Knight some tertiary choices (Small Buckler, Buckler and Heater Shield).
What about doing something similar to Javelineers but replacing the Heater Shield with the Tower Shield to go Legionary style?
++++++++++1 to the first paragraph.
More Factions… Sounds interesting, would add more flavor and spice to this already wonderful game. Here’s my ideas.
Agatha/Mason - Obviously Western European weaponry. The Current weapons would be the ones to use. (Basically, no changes needed really.)
Norse/Vikings (Barbarians) - Their focus was on Axes and Spears, not so much of swords (Since only the Wealthy and Jarls were the ones that carried swords.) The “Bearded Axe” (Which was made well known by them) can definitely become a signature weapon. Their classes can include Skirmisher OR Huskarl (Archer), Ulfsark (Man-At-Arms), Berserker (Vanguard), and Jarl (Knight. Couldn’t think of a better name at the time.)
Middle Eastern (Arabian Tribesmen could be used for the name?) They had a focus on swords, and mostly having curved blades. They also had unique daggers and knives in their arsenal, such as the Jambiya, which were curved blades with a raised central rib. And the Scimitar which is an Iconic Arabian sword. Classes are… currently hard to name, open for any suggestions on this.
The Orient (Eastern Warriors?). This would inevitably introduce the ever-so-famous Samurai into the game. This adds in the always loved Katana, along with the Daikyu (Japanese Longbow.) There’s also the Naginata, , and also the Odachi (Great-sword version of the Katana). Classes, the fun part. Technically you can list Samurai as any of them, due to the fact that the typical Samurai was capable of using just about every weapon, but let’s get some names. Bowman (Archer). Bushi (Man-At-Arms), Monk (Vanguard, Monks were well known for Polearms and Staffs), and Samurai (Knight).
Took me about 2 hours to write this (Doing my research as I was writing it.) I hope this doesn’t go unnoticed or just brushed off.
Middle Eastern factions would have plenty of axes and maces as well. To me they’re equivalent of Western Europe style when it comes to heavy armor and weaponry.
I’m getting the audio bug as well as of the new patch. I haven’t noticed the others.
