      @zombojoe:

      why is it wrong its their money their choice

      Whether or not its their choise doesn’t justify a waste of resources that could be used for the betterment of other humans who desperatly need it.

      @Userper:

      I agree. It is wrong that people should spend their money as they choose.

      It is wrong that they spend it on non productive things. This whole mentality of “freedom first” is backwards.

      Fills my heart with sadness when I see the willingness of people to throw money at meaningless kickstarter while things like research and charity that could help humans survive don’t get served with the same willingless.

      Just needs to be a tad faster.

      Game with no health regen is so boring. One mistake and you’re deed for lyfe.

      @gndo:

      He does scrim.

      What team? I know who scrims and who doesn’t trust me.

      @gndo:

      Anyways I think you see more of the gamblers in 1v1 situations, in team games they are even less effective. I don’t think Bark was defending hit-traders, he was just saying these guys that gamble are shit.

      In a competitive setting you see nothing but gamblers because its the most effective thing to do. Lets some person A has a messer person B has a longsword. Person B feints and hits person A and continious to combo, now person B either has to parry the drag or normal attack or read the feint instead of that he ignores it all and goes for the hittrade.

      BAM

      Person B is now in the upperhand because he has a more damaging weapon and oh after they hittrade person B can immediatly spam his attack and gamble a hit on person A.

      Did I tell this situation is especially cheap when you are on low health? Lets say person A is 1 HTK away from getting killed. If you apply the same situation you’d be dead by some random ass mid combo gamble.

      You’d be foolish to not pick a hard hitting weapon and hittrade when you have the chance.

      Why is it a gamble? Because you don’t know whether he’ll either feint, accel or drag in your combo. You have to gamble your CFTP and if he feints that, which you cannot possibly read or anticipate mid combo, you’re basically screwed.

      I won’t delve into the fact that it promotes aggresive gambling playstyles since you can pretty much deduct that your self if you play the game and use your intellect.

      The whole reason why the flinch time was lowered was to punish combo feints not because people enjoy caveman playstyles. You can do this by raising the flinch timer so that “most” weapons will have an equal chance of reading a feint combo as having a safe combo as they deserve or having

      When you don’t combo you lose initiative that you gained and open yourself to a nice big feint and a hit in your face. The game is all about momentum and initiative. Mid combo hits/flinches just break the fluidness and flow of the game.

      It lowers the skill cap.

      @gndo:

      Anyways, something to think about: Do slow weapons such as maul/zwei have to have safe combo times? I mean they are slow hard hitting weapons, perhaps it’s some sort of balance to their high damage, most people aren’t going to risk trying to hit trade a maul anyways. With these slow weapons you can simply use footwork, timing and distance to properly combo anyways, with less risk from being hit traded if you don’t wish to be.

      Their slowness is most of the time not a perk, especially the maul. Why do you want to cripple them even more againt 1h handers if they are never able to combo?

      Parry drain shouldn’t be as high as it is so I take that into considiration.

      Every weapon should have punishable combo feints and safe combo’s if they have the initiative. Not random CFTPing and hope your opponent will pull out the good ol’ caveman hit. Period.

      @Toll:

      Slow weapons are slow, I don’t see why someone should not be able to mid-combo flinch them with a fast weapon. I thoughly dislike the idea of increasing flinch and stun times just so the slow weapon can function exactly the same as fast weapons. More variety in game mechanics please, not less.

      Fast weapons and slow weapons don’t function the exact same way across the board. Fast weapons do have other playstyles and benefits to them. It is necessary however that they should have safe combo’s for the reasons mentioned above.

      @Toll:

      It is like how the stun time was increased just so the slow arsed Maul could get in a free hit, pfft.

      Free hit? You mean so that it wouldn’t get flinched and hit mid combo like the game should work?

      Maul user is one HTK away from death. HWS (1h) user can either hit in windup, feint stab or just hit in combo even if he hits you.

      Basically the trend is if you’re one HTK away from death and the other guy isn’t the best thing to do is to mid combo trade your way to victory. f he doesn’t combo you feint him and you win. Basically crippling his initiative and assault and having a boring win-win situation. I

      Dat skill cap though. You just completely destroy and undermine defensive capabilities as feint reading and timing. It just feels to me that you always want to gamble your way out of a combo because you’re afraid that you don’t know if you’ll be able to react to his next move.

    • RE: The Stamina System

      @Toll:

      Variable tracer damage like DW is messy and would require excellent audio and visual queues, I’d prefer they added damage reduction after feint and see how that goes before messing with tracer damages.

      Tracer based damage system has way more skill cap beneficial implications than the feint damage reduction. You can search for the topics about for the arguments.

      @Toll:

      But we kid ourselves, we all know how apathetic TB are to changing anything mechanic related in this game, they seem to rather throw banners onto buildings…

      Most managable solution would just to tinker with the stamina system as I suggest that literally involes changing a few numbers here and there.

      2 mins later Badabinb badaboom Chivalry just got a whole lot better.

      Hey TB

      It seems that a large portion of the community has alot of questions that are being left unaswered. I assume that Torn Banner is currently busy with the map competition and the UI update but I do think that there could be 10 minutes spent putting a quick Q&A together to adress some questions the community has.

      Basically the best format would to be have a live stream where your Community Manager ( preferrably an attractive woman) would collect questions from the community.

      The makers of Warframe (DE) use this format of keeping in touch with their community.

      The link below will show you how its done.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5bAliiJLNs

      As you can see it doesn’t need alot of preparation and would be realy good for selreflection and the actualy thought process you follow in each and every decision. They follow a bi-weekly schedule and only takes 1 hour.

      I honestly think you guys can make this happen and that the benefits for that 1 hour of “investment” would realy pay off.

      If you want people to be constructive you need to have a face as a company in order for people to connect to you as a human being instead of mods trying to enforce the rules as much as they can.

      Its never a good idea to go into hiding when people ask urgent questions.

      Anyways this a honest attempt to get a reaction from TB on the matter. I don’t expect this to get locked or get an infraction for what ever reason. If there are people breaking the rules in their reply’s then there is no need to lock the whole thread. Just delete the comments instead.

      Cheers

      But that’s not true. :/

      I don’t see how you can think mid combo hits and flinches are a good idea. I guess you don’t play in scrims alot do you.
