Has money been your only reason to join the contest?
Nah. If money was all I cared about I wouldn’t put so much effort into a contest of all things where my chances of actually winning are not high at all when there are 45+ submissions. The window for success is miniscule. Like I said I didn’t have my hopes up. It’s just getting good feedback, the lack of it, is frustrating, as everyone knows.
It’s more about pushing my knowledge and abilities with the engine in a new game setting. Obviously, I have a bit to learn still about Chiv’s mechanics. Despite any disappointments from players, I’ve enjoyed creating a new environment and stepping outside my comfort zone with trying to things (materials, lower poly models, proper scaling. etc.) It’s been a good experience and test of ability. Now things just need to be narrowed down and refined.
But doing that without making things worse is a slippery slope. So I’m… just on the fence about if I should bother or not, and plotting ways to go about it without screwing it up.
