ArmA 2 has this. Can’t be that hard to implement.

RE: Knight Class
Well for me there is also no reason to take another weapon than the maul, but i still don’t think it can be called the best weapon for Knight. Yes, Maul + secondary sword is a very good setup, but as i said before - i don’t see that much difference using it pre- and post-patch.
I think the only reason why no-one is using Grand Mace anymore and everyone wants to wield the Maul now is because they are all horny for one-hitting knights - which is a totally legit desire, but it might dampen their judgement of the Maul.
If you didn’t want to say it’s OP i don’t really get your point. Maybe you can explain once again? Or is it just Maul-appreciation? ;)
Just saying that for ME, there’s no other reason to use any other weapon.
RE: Knight Class
The maul definitly got better, but i dont think it’s OP. On pub servers i dont see that many people using it and even more than half of those who use it fail with it.
I have to admit i only use the maul when playing knight, but i allready did that pre-patch and i asure you that the buff did not make me a better player. It’s better against Knights, but they never have been too much of a threat to me anyways - i find MaA and Vanguards way more threatening 1v1.
Whenever i use a different class/setup and i face a Maul-user i can win most fights by simply keeping my distance well enough. Without doubt there are also Maul-users who beat me when i am using a Vanguard with Greatsword for example, but i am pretty sure that those players also would heave beaten me with a different weapon.
Summary: an average player doesn’t get better by simply using the maul. I think its even the opposite - he gets worse and easier to kill. But now the maul at least has some benefits over the Grand Mace.
i updated my PC with a new graphics card last week. Since this update i can see some sort of black bars moving from the bottom of the screen to the top. They are barley visible but they are there. I only see them, when it’s dark or at least not too bright ingame. It seems i can’t capture them on screenshots.
They don’t bother me that much, but it still would be nice if someone could help me fix this.
-I don’t have similar problem with other games
-graphics driver is up to date
RE: What the difference between shields?
In Reallife a weapon has more range then it is wielded with one handed.
2. In real life you would (almost) never swing a longsword one-handed.
On topic: as a knight I only use shields to save myself from ranged attacks - so I prefer the towershield.
Other than that I don’t see any use for a shield at all. Maybe againt spear vanguards, but if he is not that good I can defeat him without using a shield and if he is good a shield won’t save me anyway.
RE: Maul Opinions
Hey, so I was just wondering about everyone’s opinions on the maul now. While I am happy it got buffed, as there was little distinguishing it from the grand mace or reason to take it over said weapon, I am not certain how I feel about OHK on Knights. It seems odd to be able to OHK the most tanky class in the game, when the maul is slow, sure, but not that slow. Especially with the new stamina and flinch changes, I am not certain exactly what I think of it.
How about everyone else? Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad it got buffed as it was a little too hard to do well with it prior, but I don’t know how I feel about OH killing knights, is all. Your thoughts?
It IS a little too hard to do well with it. Nothing has changed except +7dmg for overhead ( which is enough to onehit knight instead of almost onehitting them) and i think -0,1seconds on slash and OH windup?
Maul is my weapon of choice since months and it doesnt feel that much better now - i dont get better k/d now, for example. It’s just the knights whining about getting oneshot from time to time (it really doesn’t happen a lot in my experience).
edit: i totally would trade the ability of oneshot Knights to the head for the ability of oneshot MaA to the body AGAIN.
RE: Looking at Team Damage the positive way….
Friendly damage must be reflective! End of story.
I find reflective damage just retarded. The game can’t detect whos fault the team-damage was. So if i would like to troll you as your teammate i just run into all your swings, till you are dead and then maybe even vote-kick you.
Like everyone probably i happen to teamkill sometimes and it’s as good as always just an unlucky accident. I wouldn’t like to get punished for something that wasn’t avoidable.
In this style, I have eyes only for the enemy, so if a teammate is between me and the enemy, I would stab/slash through the teammate for a guarantee contact with the enemy.
In rare cases i do the same, but never just to get a bette score, but for tactical reasons. Example: while defending the King i totally would kill a teammate if i know it’s also going to kill the enemy as well. Teammate respawns right there a couple of seconds later, enemy has to walk half a minute. On the attacking side i also would teamkill if i know that i also will get an overhead at the king with the same strike. I always apologize and explain myself and most of them understand it.
RE: Just started, need advice
I would start playing as a Vanguard.
-Use spears to learn to aim stabs as mentioned.
-Use the Greatsword to learn “normal” combo fighting.
-Take an Axe as a secondary and throwing Knifes ( if your aim gets better take the throwing Hatchets)
-Play the Tutorial if you haven’t yet.
-Use kicks against enemies with shields to break the blocks.
