First off, I’m sorry but what I just saw almost put me to sleep. A duel isn’t suppose to last ages.
Very high level play would be boring. You cannot get around a really good player without feints, apart if he is attacked by more than one opponent & don’t tell me you guys are high level, nope, just nope.
Don’t get me wrong but @ 3:14 & 4:24 or 8:52 in the video and many other occasions is the exact example why you think feints are impossible - you parry randomly, early … your timing is off. Sometimes you even parry before the guy’s windup, wrongly guessing that he will strike.
If you keep your distances, have some footwork, study patterns, you shouldn’t have any problem with feints - parry at the last possible moment or get a shield or simply dodge. Interestingly enough, people who feint always have some sort of pattern, same for those who combo. If you train your eye you will outplay random feinters. If he has a 2H try to stab to cancel, if he has a fast 1h keep your distances, close in when appropriate.
I don’t pretend to be a top player, but feints are not that hard to counter study. This game has a deep gameplay, thanks to all of its mechanics, feinting included
Tweaking feints, yes; removing feints, nope!
