Almost everyone i played with when the game launched has since quit. Tb had some really bad early patches with no communication that drove off most people, and its painfully obvious there will never be a competitive scene (i think a hacker won the only official chiv tournament).

RE: Is Chiv 2 coming?
Ive thought about making this but I probably wouldn’t be able to.
A MOBA/ARTS game, in the style of dota 2/LoL/Smite (more smite-like) i think would be really cool with this engine/gameplay style.
Thats the only way i can see a game remotely like this having a competitive scene. Could have so much depth.

RE: Darkforest stage 1
Rofl, compared to HLTV, ESEA, Dota 2, LoL and Steam forums, the TB forums are super-duper tame. Seriously, the only people any comp players have hardcore flamed are people like Sharpest who think feints are RNG.
EVeryone with a brain knows feints are RNG

To be honest the only good weapon in this entire game is thrusting dagger

RE: Darkforest stage 1
It’s only a reality if we make it a reality. The idea to neglect something entirely based totally off of the cynicism in your mind and in your heart is beyond sinful. You remain a virus, uselessly spreading doubt and cynicism. Which is why you will never be successful.
Someone read ‘the secret.’
So you’re either trolling (its 2014, who the fuck trolls anymore) or delusional. Good to know.

RE: Is messer too strong?
If you look down to make it look like you’re accelerating then try to look up, the limiter will prevent you from being able to look all the way up and being able to milk the entire release (normally you can if you begin with a look up).
Drags have a very easy tell by just reading what the opponents player model is doing.
I don’t believe you to be correct.

A ship is safe in the harbour, but that’s not what ships are for.
The idea that some large corporation is going to swoop in like superman and create a meaningful competitive scene for this game is beyond fanciful.
If you truly believe that is within the realm of possibility for chivalry you are delusional and should seek medical help.

RE: Is messer too strong?
Vertical and horizontal swing limit prevents releases that are longer than the active parry window from being a problem.
I disagree. Tell me in what manner they prevent it being a problem?
At its core the ability to delay a swing without a tell to either hit instantly or longer than parry duration after windup, especially in a game like this where lag plays such a factor, is counter intuitive and needs justification.
Tell me why the game still has integrity with this system.

@CRUSHED:
this is what happens when a terrible player starts theorycrafting
why dont you explain to me why im wrong instead of leveling a baseless insult and beginning the ‘circlejerk’ forum defense mechanism to a critique?
This forum is cancerous. Like more so than 90% of internet forums. Its a giant exclusionary circlejerk where everyone re-affirms each others opinions and logic is never used.
all weapons that have drags should be removed
almost happened once
Well all release times should be shorter than the active parry window and the speed of a lot of weapons during release should be increased, and a lot of weapons should have longer windups.

RE: Darkforest stage 1
Sharpest, you say on the one hand DW is just as difficult to master, and then on the other than MW has a larger skill difference between veteran and new player. You can’t have it both ways.
I didnt say a larger skill difference i said the mechanism for skill difference is not intuitive in MW. A lot of people in MW are not actually that good at judging ranges/speeds of weapons, and kind of rely on their opponent having sub par execution in relation to novel tactics/variable timings instead of having personally high levels of execution.
I dont think the drags in MW having a bigger part of the combat make the skill ceiling higher than DW, just a different source of skill differential. More sources of skill difference dont necessarily mean a higher/lower skill ceiling.
–--------------
Also, DW is a better game. Pace is faster, characters are more distinctly different, map design is superior. Sweet spot swing mechanics are more advanced. Faster releases.
I think that style of game is more interesting casually as well as competitively. Not that i think this game in anything like its current form is interesting competitively.
There just isn’t enough to interest spectators. If the game is not spectateAble, it will never be an ‘esport’
