Requiring 1st person view when holding the shield up would be a start to balancing it out. If they lose sight of me and have to lower their guard to find me that gives me an opportunity, or they aren’t able to track me and I sneak behind them.

One thing I would like to see is the size of the weapon should play a role in parrying. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t feel a difference when I block with a 2 handed weapon versus when I’m blocking with a dagger. The dagger should theoretically require me to be more precise and should have a harder time blocking bigger weapons.

I agree that stamina in general needs to be tweaked. Personally I would like to see it drain and recover faster. Ultimately the game is fairly balanced, I think all projectiles need to move faster and have a little bit more range (Javelins especially) and I think blocking 2 handed weapons with 1 handed weapons should take a lot more stamina (blocking a maul with a dagger should be more taxing than blocking a dagger with a maul). I haven’t really done a lot of research on it, but as an archer with my broad dagger I can sit there and block someone with ease until someone comes to help.
RE: Map Balance.
To me spawn delay for defenders just has to be tied to server size.
RE: Breakable shields.
I get that there are tools to work against a guy with a shield, but from a balance perspective it seems kind of silly that kicking a shield does more to open an enemy up for attack then swinging a heavy maul at him.
I just think something needs to be done, the amount of heavy knights running around with the hammer and tower shield (most of them seem to be using 3rd person as well) is just making things a bit silly. There doesn’t seem to be any 1 on 1 situation where a shield user is at a disadvantage, and personally I think the game would be better off if that imbalance were resolved.
