    • RE: Game is way too offense friendly by design

In my experience the defense ALWAYS has an advantage unless they are outnumbered or outclassed by better players. For one, the battle is usually taking place closer to the defense’s spawn. For two, offense usually has an objective to accomplish whether it be pushing something or destroying/burning something. Defense only has to focus on killing them. Thats much easier.

Also of course in reality defense usually has an advantage too when it comes to combat or even combat sports. Its easy to wait for your opponent to come to you, make a mistake, and then you capitalize on it.

That being said, I think the offense in this game isn’t that underpowered. It is that way so it can be competitive. If it was more realistic, defense would probably win a LOT more. The maps are made so that there really isn’t any defensive structures that can be used very strategically to hold off the attacking forces. Almost any wall or vantage point that defensive archers can take are reachable by melee classes.

So I somewhat agree. They have to make offense easier so that it is competitive.

Just re-read the OP. I thought this was about TO. lol……

The knight description. “Mess with this dude and you are screwed.” WTF? Early EARLY stuff it looks like… lol.

    • RE: Why did Torn Banner completely destroy shields?

I used shields a lot prior to the patch and still use them a lot now.

Sure, the stamina nerf changed it a lot. This affects turtles the most however. You can’t block attack after attack and pick your shots like you could before the patch. Its a good thing. I think I am only slightly less successful after the shield nerf. Not a huge deal.

      @CRUSHED:

It’s funny how people whine about a playstyle that is hilariously easy to counter

      I concur lol.

Most of these people who do that over and over run around literally looking at the ground the whole time and are extremely easy to kill. They are more focused on the lookdown overhead than on their opponent’s movements.

    • RE: Keep being called a "hacker"

Pointless thread. I havent even come on the forums for a while but even shortly after launch there were lots of threads where people talked about getting kicked for “hacking” when they were just playing good. This must be the 3,535,921th thread of the same flavor.

There will always be idiots who assume a much better player is hacking, but a good K-D ratio is HARDLY something to judge that by. I have only seen about 4 or 5 blatant speedhackers and a handful of other people that I suspected but couldn’t be sure. The majority of the hackers I have seen I encountered in the last month or so.

    • RE: Regarding the speedhacking.

I have around 300+ hours in the game and I have seen about 4 obvious speedhackers and several other not so obvious ones that I suspected. I am a skeptical person by nature so I will give someone the benefit of the doubt until the truth is blatant.

Sometimes its very hard to tell. One time I was fighting an archer who I suspected of speedhacking but did not accuse because it wasn’t obvious. He was moving much faster than me running/attacking. He was moving so fast actually that he was able to kite me with a sling and outrun me by backpedaling and me charging him at full speed (as a knight). It wasn’t obvious to me until I switched servers when the game was over. I fought a MAA who was moving MUCH slower (regular speed) than the archer I was just in the other game with.

I have always thought it would be fun and would be interested to have organized duels on the log in the final section of the dark forest map. Either singles or groups :D

    • RE: Ser Fluffy's campfire war story thread!

I have a strange tale to tell of darkness and sorcery. I am the sole survivor of the massacre at Stoneshill castle. Some may call me a deserter, but there was no army left to desert…

I was with a small company of my fellow Mason brothers on the outskirts of Stoneshill. The orders were clear and they had come from high up, perhaps even Malric himself: We were to butcher the peasants and set fire to the village. Some in our company had qualms with such deeds but orders are orders.

We began the assault at dawn. Men, women, children. They all fell beneath the blades of the Order. We encountered ragtag defenses of Agathans here and there but this was a full on slaughter. There was no honor to be had here. We were resting later that eve on the first day, on the outskirts at our basecamp when news came from the battle: Ten of our men laid low by a single Agathan Vanguard!

I could scarce believe the news, but surely enough a loud battle cry rose from the village and the clanking of many shields and blades. With my own eyes, I saw a man wearing the insignia of Agatha. He was moving at a speed faster than any arrow I had seen travel through the air.

Weaving in and out of the battle, I saw this wizard slay ALL masons that were there that day. I had never seen such dastardly acts on the battlefield, it was as if no one had a chance against this man who moved with speed of many horses. One by one, they all fell to him.

I had no choice, you see. Surely you can understand why I ran? I am but an archer, no one accused me of bravery. But there is one thing… I am not a liar. By the gods I know what I saw, and it was not the movements of any regular man!

    • RE: Favorite Team Objective Map

As much as I love killing/defending/being the king I would have to say Dark Forest!

I don’t know why I just really like it. Quite possibly because of the final segment of it that includes the LOG!!! I love goading people into log duels/battles. So fun. Also the whole wooden fort thing that can be knocked down with catapults is pretty cool imo.
