I will get right to the point and hello! Summary --> Stop others from trashing this game/hacking, Be Positive, Be part of the solution, download a game recording software and submit hackers.
With the new update things are exciting and painful. But these are growing pains, not I stab you with a longsword sort of pain. It is great that a company has a roadmap and is dedicated to release new content to the community. It is also difficult when the rollout isn’t as smooth as you would like. Please be supportive, the game is fun and we know this. We just have to get through some rough times. I know this will set off a few of you, and that is ok, we still like you - so take a break and come back in a bit.
- The game feels jittery and the animations stutter.
- Weapons are now going through people and not registering. If I see contact on a person’s body I expect some damage. I should not be able to swing through their legs.
- Weapon damage and speed adjustments should be communicated. If it doesn’t work out you can change it back later as you balance. For example adjusted longsword to do 10 percent less damage, and slash range has been reduced by 15% percent. War Axe - has had speed reduced by 8% etc…
I usually play around 20 hours a week sometimes more and I am currently at 123 rank and often take the top 1 to 5 spots. When you are up there you see alot of friendly names of people you play with often. It is fun and rewarding to play against YodagotBars, Ryan Maul, NoHelpMike, Tao of James and many many others. We know each other and kind a know what to expect a bit from the higher level of engagement duels/combat. We know the rhythms of the game quite well and understand dynamics of combat as we further evolve our own gameplay. Sometimes we serve up fresh meat from our friends, and other times we are owned and die with a chuckle. This is what makes this game fun.
Now - with a new update we have alot of fresh faces coming back. THIS IS GREAT!! The bad news is that what to me was a relatively hacker free game is not anymore.
I was defending my gold like moma taught me in Coxwell around the statue. I hit the interloping Mason in the back. He proceeded to block me then run to the left around the center statue and accelerated at three times my speed. I could not catch up with him even when I hit the full speed run, he was still moving at 2-3 times my speed and opened up a 30 ft gap in about 2-3 seconds.
The experienced ones here know that you cannot really out run anyone. For some reason the person in the back gets like 10 percent more speed and can eventually catch up to get a hit in. After hundreds of hours, you know exactly how far an enemy can move to get out of your swing zone. Most of the time they can dodge or block, but not outright move 200 percent away from the combat circle and continue to do this.
CALL TO ACTION
For those of you still reading who love this game like I do, it is up to us to police our own game if we want to see it play better. Our job is not only to play if we want the game to grow, but to assist if we are able.
Download Nvidia Shadowplay - watch a Youtube tutorial and learn to hit a button to record the last 2 mins of your game. Then when you come across hackers/cheaters select the in game tool, and then email the evidence in.
I have downloaded for the first time the Nvidia Tool (you can use OBS if you want), to record games in order to help remove the blatent speed hacks. You can still beat hackers in a duel because you know how to play, but it will just be harder.
I called someone out on their hacking and they must have turned off or turned down what they were doing, because they lost about 100 percent of their added speed and acted like they were just good at this type of game. You cannot fool those of use who have over a hundred hours in this game. We have learned to use a critical eye.
Further on Hacking Cheating and Community Involvement
There have been posts about it being the responsibility of the game devs to police this. But if they don’t we have to step in. I would rather put a little effort in to help the game succeed and grow then to watch a slow death. Many people don’t want to “assist”, but to those of you who have time, to those of you who love this game, don’t swallow the bitter pill. Step up just a small amount, and maybe we can help the devs grow this game.
