There is a glitch with the servers where they may eventually stop registering kills for unlocks. I see it all the time. Only fix I’ve found is to restart the server.

RE: My server lags
Sorry I wasn’t very clear - on my 64 person I still have plenty of CPU time available as well, yet the issues you’re describing would occur at 42-44 people like clockwork. I still haven’t exactly figured out why this is and so far nothing has remedied it. I figured it may have something to do with the CPU time slicing but I could be wrong.
RE: I wanna make Server :D
Use search. That is a known error - nothing to be concerned about.
Don’t forget to forward the ports in your firewall to your computer so people can connect. Keep in mind that depending on your computer and internet connection, you will probably only be able to support a small handful of people.
RE: My server lags
Check out some suggestions in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=72&t=3725
Likely you have a bottleneck somewhere on your system. Is this a VPS or something (there is no such thing as a 5 core Xeon… there are quad then hex, but not 5)? If you are on a VPS system you need to see how many processor threads you actually have as well as your CPU shares. When the CPU can no longer keep up with all of the action on the server, it will introduce extra lag due to the server processing. For example I used to run a 64 slot server but recently reduced it to 32. Even having 2 cores @ 2.93 GHz dedicated to UDK.exe, it would start to introduce this processing lag at around 42-44 players.
Setting your server to use public IPs is going to be dependent on your networking situation (either a NAT of your public IP or the ability to actually set your system itself to a public IP).
FYI - People "playing with" the server if you enable votemap
Just FYI to you server admins - if your server is temporarily empty or low pop you might get some screwball in there that can vote to load the tutorial map. Obviously you don’t want that.
I’ve disabled voting on my servers now because of this. Keep an eye on your current map!
RE: Devs take a note please.
I don’t think you devs understand the urge of solving some issues for server admins.
For starters, fix the wrong number of players display in a server. When my server is 32/32 in the serverlist and I join and I see it’s 8 mason 8 agatha, I can only imagine myself and other server admins getting frustrated for 2 reasons.
It keeps players out who think the server is full (server filter “don’t display full servers”) and on the other hand, server admins don’t get the full aspect for what they are paying for to their server providers. Half empty server isn’t really what anyone is paying money for now is it?
On that note, make it possible for an admin to always join his server. I have to stop my server and restart it only to gain entrance when 32 other players were playing fine. It keeps players out if they notice the server being taken down too often. They’ll think twice before joining your server again cause they will remember how it was taken down the last time.
I’m sure the admins understand it. Without dedicated servers and players a game will die. The Steam sale shot this game up the charts so they definitely want to keep this game popular and give it all the support it needs. There are lots of problems with the dedicated server right now, but hopefully the January patch (we’re almost there!) will fix a majority. If not I would definitely recommend you keep submitting the bug reports.
Any tips to make a server less crashy?
I’m having to constantly keep an eye on my servers as they (seemingly) randomly die. Only once did I actually have a crash of the UDK.exe process, typically the server appears to be humming along fine from the OS point of view, but it is not in the server list, queryable, or joinable.
The operating systems they are on are fine and stable. One of the servers also hosts a Natural Selection 2 server which hasn’t crashed once - so again it must be software related. Operating systems are Windows 2008 R2 and 2012.
I also notice when this happens that many others in this forum with server banners show “offline”… so I’m assuming this is a typical thing. I just want to make sure!
