That’s because MW and DW are the same game. Being good at one means you’re good at the other. Fucking shocking, I know. And who are these good players you were beating, random joes on an FFA duel server? You would get rekt against anyone actually good, all you had when you lost to Gauntlet was excuses, it would be the same if you lost to me or Vanguard. You wouldn’t stand a chance against the real pros like Moose, Crushed or Obi Wan, none of whom even play anymore to my knowledge. I’m sure Vanguard would school your ass if he didn’t have crazy Brazilian ping.
I didn’t lose to Gauntlet, he beat me one more time than I beat him, on a FFA server, not even on my best class. I’d be happy to rematch him in a duel server, and any other creatures you want me to fight.
“I played MW for the first time in like 2 years the other day, and I was an above average player, even without feints. I was beating good players, even without using CFiP”
Gee, sounds like what Gauntlet did but with DW. I’m sure he didn’t need to feint anybody, he just did because it’s a built in reflex for good players to utilize cftp. It’s also funny feinting someone once or twice and watching them walk backwards spamming parry, the feint them again and make them keep doing it like a dance. It’s called testing someone’s reflexes, I guess you’ve been on the receiving end of that and didn’t like it much. DW is easier to do well in. As for the very top players in DW, I can’t comment, since the number of good players in DW is small and the whole thing is built on shitty mechanics. Most of the best DW players realized that and left a long time ago, there’s just you and your butt buddies who crutch on bad mechanics and bugs and call yourselves pros because no one cares enough to play and challenge you.
And that is your opinion, one that is invalidated by the good players in DW.
And since you ignored it, let me reiterate:
“Feint just means to fake out your opponent. You can shield feint and body feint with no stamina cost, you can even facehug after parrying and not riposte, making the opponent panic parry. Even that is a type of feint. It all comes down to fast-paced gambling in many forms, and they’re all combatable. Even drags are designed to trick your opponent, you just separate the one mechanic and demonize it.”
Flinching =/= feinting. For one, you’re not just pressing a button to activate the animation of an attack, you’re using movement animations to make your opponent nervous, not simply out-right canceling an attack for a free hit. The very idea of feinting in a game where your only defense is timing-based, is imbecilic.
There are many ways to feint other than the dedicated feint button, where do you draw the line when so many tactics are meant to produce the same result? Every fight, in-game or real life, breaks down to you trying to trick your opponent so you can land a hit. If you expect your opponent will feint you, it’s very easy to let them do it and burn away stamina, then punish them. But you keep ignoring this skill and saying feints are 50/50 unreadable gambles when they’re not.
I draw the line when it is so easy to do you can press a button to make an experienced player panic-parry. This game is not balanced properly for feints. Mount and Blade is balanced for feints. But not this. Even in M&B the feinting takes a ridiculous turn, and is quite boring, people will feint 100 times a second, because there are no serious consequences.
Now are you going to admit you’ve wasted everyone’s time and turned a simple patch thread into a shitstorm, or do you want to continue rambling on making the same shitty points then calling others the ones “ruining the game.” I can keep making you look stupid if you want. Other people were doing it before I got here, and I’m sure it will happen again as you continue posting. I’m surprised one of the mods haven’t decided to jump in at this point, maybe they’re laughing at you too. I know at least a couple are, and probably some Torn Banner staff.
Oh forgive me oh great one, for wasting your time by defending a game that I’m good at, that you yourself admitted you don’t play. Could you just take a big leap off of your own rhetoric for a moment?
