    • RE: TPV should be the competitive view

      So as far as I understand, FPV is just “better” for some reason, and fisheye is meta? No wonder your comp scene is dead.

      @ChuckingIt:

      I never played AOC. I hate playing in 3rd person. It allows you to do lame things like peek corners and over terrain, while giving you a 360 view around yourself.

      I wish they never introduced 3rd person to the game, but casual people love it. So it helps with sales.

      You can peek corners with 120 fov

    • TPV should be the competitive view

      You know why Age of Chivalry was in first person? Because it was a Source mod built around first person shooter!

      Playing this game in FPV would be like playing Tekken in FPV. It makes no sense, you need to be able to see your hurtboxes and hitboxes. And you can’t see the full arc of your swing in FPV. Or, actually, you can, you just have to set your FOV to 120.

      Sure it adds some skill, to be able to judge distance with fishbowl vision, but is that really a skill we want to emphasize? And you don’t even need that skill if you have a multi-monitor setup or a ridiculously wide monitor. So in the end, it does nothing but favor the people with ridiculous monitor setups. Stop thinking in nostalgia and please use some logic…

    • RE: Haven't played in forever, how's the game?

      @DokB:

      Not sure when you last played but larger stamina cost to cancelling attacks (ie; feinting) and a limit on what part of the wind up you can feint in. I’m not sure on the exact details but I’ve barely heard any complaining about feinting any more.

      That or maybe people have finally come to accept it as part of the game.

      In a game where you die in 2-3 hits, your block not working whenever the enemy decides to press feint is unacceptable. In games with more hp it could be called mind games, but with such low hp it just adds in a crap load of luck you might as well be playing poker.

    • RE: My FPS Needs Help, Even After SmoothFrameRate Boost

      The game is playable for me, on a lower res I get 30-60 fps. I followed some guide that made everything the lowest settings possible in the .ini files, forgot what it was. All your stats BUT the video card are higher than my laptop.

      I dunno Unreal engine just seems to have bad optimization, and looks REAL ugly in its lowest settings. Like for how poorly it is running it should look better imo…

      I hope no feints becomes competitive standard, but did pro Chivalry die already? Didn’t they have their own client and everything? Of course it didn’t help that they reverted to one of the least balanced era’s of Chivalry.

    • Haven't played in forever, how's the game?

      Obviously I’m not talking about the expansion. I heard its terribly balanced. When I left, stamina changes finally made Van viable but they were reverted to a higher level a patch later. MAA remained the king of duels as always, and Knights were in one of their weakest states in duels.

      Did feints get removed or fixed yet? That’s the one thing I hated about the game, how much luck was added in with feints. I also hated how you had to play the game in 120 fov b/c of the bizarre design decision to make a melee game Fpv.

    • RE: MAA vs Knight is still impossible

      Lol @ you guys hit-trading an MAA, you can only do that against a shit MAA, a good MAA will camp you until the sun goes down, and will only attack after your attack is done.

      Remember it costs more stamina for you to swing an miss than an maa to dodge backwards so he will always be ahead in stamina.

      You can’t talk about balance with 173 hours. I mean you can talk, but your opinion is just worthless.

    • RE: MAA vs Knight is still impossible

      I think I put my profile on private, I have 173 hours in Chivalry, and feel the Van’s were in a good position pre-patch, though I mostly just play duels. I feel they were countered by ranged in team games, balancing out their amazing melee abilities.

      The loss of the chase mechanic just destroyed Knights though… I mean now they have more stamina, but 1v1 a good MAA should win vs ANY Knight every time b/c of their ability to camp them. I posted this in another thread but MAA’s will probably always be God Tier in duels because the game is “balanced” around team-play and that’s what MAA’s are supposed to do, kill ppl 1v1.
