Your Ping, or latency, is mostly only effected by how far you are physically from where the server is located. Your best option is to try to find servers closer to where you live. If you live in the United States, you will never have a good ping in UK servers no matter what you do, and vice versa. It’s not like FPS where you can improve it by messing with the game files.

RE: Anyway to improve latency?
RE: FFS, do something about flanking!
Is this a joke? Flanking is the most basic of all teamwork tactics. You do realize that this is a team based game, right?
If you don’t want to get flank, don’t overextend yourself so much, learn to look around occasionally to keep map awareness, or just play duel mode.
RE: Why doesnt any game do shields properly?
And more to the point, why doesn’t any game do footwork, weapons, armor, etc properly?
A hunting knife slash shouldn’t do any damage to the armor of a knight, a thrusting dagger should require aiming at the weakpoints, a single broadsword thrust to the throat should kill a MAA/Archer, none of our characters bleed, all of them regenerate health, etc.
There is a game that does everything you just said, and it is called War of the Roses. It has totally realistic, time appropriate weapons and armor, made from proper materials, it requires you to aim at weakpoints in armor, characters can bleed out, and the only way to “heal” is to use bandages.
It ended up being an incredibly boring turtlefest and the online community quickly died. Although that was also partly because the combat was ridiculously slow and floaty and it had the idiotic finishing move mechanic.
Regardless, that game proved that completely realistic medieval combat games are not fun.
RE: Quarterstaff is completely wrong
There is no one single way to use a weapon correctly. Just as there are countless different schools of sword use that do everything slightly different, so too are there different schools of thought in the use of the staff. Some prefer to hold near the end so they have more leverage and reach; some prefer to hold near the center so they can attack more swiftly thanks to the reduced rotational inertia; some do both depending on the situation.
Believing that there is one single “right” way to use such a basic and prolific weapon as a quarterstaff is simply delusional.
RE: LMB-spammers legit or not?
LMB spam is very easy to counter. Parry, then use a fast attack like a stab. Even the slowest weapon in the game can get a stab in before somebody recovers from a parry. You might end up trading parries for a while, but at that point it’s just a matter of who has the most skill will win.
Seriously, if you are losing to LMB spam it is your own fault, and you need to learn to play better. Just parry and stab, parry and stab…
RE: How can anyone justify fighting for the Masons?
I don’t know…… the masons DID kill all of the King’s family, hiding behind planks of wood like the rats that they are.
…and their wives provided better sport!
They killed the King, too.
RE: Punching with your free hand
A punch delivered by a metal gauntlet or thick leather gloves could easily kill someone. I’m sure fisticuffs occurred occasionally on the medieval battlefield. After all, fists and kicks are the only weapons we can say for sure were available in every single actual medieval battle.
RE: The Mason Knight's face
I prefer to assume he has no lower jaw at all, like Baron Underbheit. He wears the coif to hide his shame.
RE: What kill does this symbol mean?
I’m pretty sure the symbol you saw is in fact the autobalance symbol.
You got the kill for it because you were the last person to damage him before he died. If you damage somebody in any way right before they die to non-player damage (falling, suicide, autobalance, gate bomb exploding, etc) you will be rewarded the kill, even though you didn’t actually kill them yourself.
The icon for falling death is a little stick figure with movement lines, by the way.
RE: How to record gameplay?
Fraps works very well for any game. That is what I would suggest.
Try to get the full version, as the trial version is very limited.
