Damaging multiple foes in one swing seems important for punishing bad positioning. Remember if you are 2v1 or 3v1 you probably shouldn’t all ball up and rush his front. Especially when he can’t block with his backside.

RE: My current class tier list opinion
A tier list by class is foolish. Weapons can vary vastly in performance and behavior. A Knight with a Sword of War fights differently than a Knight using a Warhammer and Shield. You would be far better off doing a weapon tier list. That would contain some useful information.
RE: Thoughts so far as a Javelin user…
My biggest complaint about Javelins is the recovery time after a throw. It is extremely long. You lift your next javelin up and still can’t block or attack.
RE: Second tier weapons are inferior
I may be wrong, but I thought that the new unlocks were not supposed to be better but more customized to fit playstyles?
Just because they are supposed to doesn’t make it true. They devs don’t know what is really good when they are making the game. Warbow blows Shortbow and Longbow out of the water. Halbred is far superior to the Bardiche and Billhook. At the same time, Flanged mace is probably the best 1h mace.
RE: Best setup for each class?
For Knight I fall into the Sword (pri), Mace(sec), Shield Camp. Yes, some of the other primaries do more damage. However, this set-up is so flexible. The sword has reach and can effectively stab, slash, and overhead. If you need blunt damage you swap to your mace (I like the flanged mace.) I lean towards flanged mace and sword of war.
RE: Default STAB to LMB
I’m all for this idea.
Some people here seem to think preventing TK is the victim’s responsibility instead of the TKer. 99% of the times I’ve been TKd have been due to a friendly player running into a 1v1 fight I was previously engaged in and pressing LMB, stealing my kill and killing me at the same time. They don’t do this because they want to do a horizontal swing, they do this because they want to attack quickly so they just press LMB in a panic. Changing LMB to default as overhead would help everyone. You’re not punishing anyone by doing this, everyone can just rebind. Horizontal slash might be the easiest to land, but it’s also the easiest to block and doesn’t do as much damage as overhead and it’s a good introduction for new players that may be getting tired of accidently hitting team mates themselves.
You know something else that could really cut down on the team killing, reworking the points/unlocks system. If instead of displaying kills vs deaths publicly, they displayed a point system closer to TF2 there would be less encouragement to go after the kill. This would be especially true if assists counted as 0.25 kills or 0.5 kills for the purpose of unlocking. Half the reason people are so kill crazy is that whoever lands the final blow currently gets all the credit. Players ignore the point score and just pay attention to the kill score. TKs would actually impact them on the scoreboard. Currently the point loss from TKs doesn’t matter to players because kills are directly displayed.
I know some people will say kills and points don’t matter, but they matter to some people. This lets you use that point system to manipulate how those people behave in game. Plus I suspect many of the players annoying you with LMB friendly fire are the ones that would be most manipulated by a points change. If kills/deaths were hidden, TKing would have a bigger negative impact on your scoreboard rank.
Kills = 1 points
Objective Kills = 1.25 points
Assists = 0.5 points
Objective Assists = 0.75 points
Minor objective (things like killing peasants and burning stuff) = 0.25 points each
TKs = -0.5 points up to -1 point if you TK frequently enough
You simply display only full points, so 1.75 would be 1 point and 2.25 would be 2 points on the scoreboard.
RE: Default STAB to LMB
The major problem I see with this is that stab absolutely sucks for some weapons. Your LMB attack should be effective no matter what weapon you have chosen. While swings are sub-optimal for some weapons, they still do damage. Stabs on some of the blunt weapons do terrible damage. Although I would be okay with overhead on LMB, I don’t think there are any terrible overhead attacks.
RE: I want a samurai sword
Who cares if its medieval or not, make an expansion, i don´t care, i just want to cut peoples heads off like a motherfucking samurai
Theming can be important, Samurai sword = bad, but Chivalry: Japan could be good.
RE: Official Servers Missing
I wasn’t quite sure if this was a bug on my end. I’m able to see all the independently hosted servers, but none of the official servers are showing up on the server list.
Is this happening to anyone else? Are the official servers simply down?
There is a noticeable decrease in quality on the non-official servers too. The game feels a lot more laggy.
RE: LTS as a Competitive Mode is Flawed.
Reposting myself from another thread:
Tiebreakers have been an issue for many fighting games. You either have a timer or you don’t. The problem with removing a timer altogether is that it’s brutal scheduling wise for a tournament, and encourages slower paced action from the players since they don’t have to press action in a race against the clock (spectator oriented arguments). If you have a timer, then it’s meant to be enforced in some way, and rewarding the most players alive is the most logical and fair compromise.
Counter Strike avoids this problem by having a sub objective (plant the bomb). While it ensures that there will always be a clear winner, it also inherently grants a slight advantage to a team in some way (usually map balance combined with the fact that terrorists that are forced to be offensive). At least it’s somewhat mitigated through halves. If you want a clear cut winner every round, you need some sort of extra rule or objective to force the issue, but someone is probably going to be disadvantaged in the process.
I mean, something simple like ‘The Masons have to kill the Agatha team’ would be enough to shake things up, and is technically fair due to the use of halves. Might be an extreme rule, but could prove to be a good starting point.
X kill all the Y still has most of the same problems. In fact is encourages team Y to hide. I think giving one side two flags would be best. If they lose both flags they lose. That forces one team to engage, but also makes the defending team lose if they don’t put up a fight by the flags.
You are right to draw parallels with CS though, it is essentially last team standing with a minor objective that forces one team to play offense.
