Happens with Unreal Engine 3
Interesting idea. I’ve had this issue happen to me, but instead of switching to a ‘1h no shield’ bastard sword, I actually spawned with it being 1h and it was correctly using all of the ‘1h no shield’ animations.
Happens to me as well. Even though it is a glitch, I personally think you should be able to do this just for the sake of being able to play how you want.
People did great linebattles in a source mod called battlegrounds 2, which was based on the revolutionary war, so of course they had some linebattle servers, and max server capacity was 32, being on the source engine.
And it was great fun.
Used to lead linebattles in that mod all day every day.
If a specific server was set up for this and some dedicated mods/admins made sure people stayed in line and listened to the commander it could probably be a lot of fun.
All I can say is WOW!
This game truly is one of the most immersive games i’ve played in very very long time. The graphics and the effects are simply jaw-droppingly gorgeous and the melee combat just feels smooth and polished in a way that no other game except maybe Warband on a good day can even hold a candle to. Props to your artist(s) who made the class icons as well, those are absolutely amazing! There’s nothing like melee in first person and you guys have struck gold with this game! I played Age of Chivalry a lot back in the day and I heard someone mention “Chivalry: Medieval Warfare” in passing and decided to look it up. I couldn’t believe what I was reading when it said you guys were the mod team that made AoC and had transformed into a fully fledged developer! I’ve played the beta for nearly 25 hours now and have reached rank 20. I must say I enjoyed every minute of it and have recommended this game to all of my friends. I am thoroughly confident they will love this game just as much as I do. This game strikes as something that you pay half as much for, but you would play 10 times as much as some AAA title made by a big name Dev and Publisher.
There a few things i’d like to bring up. One of which is that thrusts, specifically the great sword thrusts, seem to be a bit OP. A Knight with a Sword of War can just use thrust for every attack, and have the most damaging, fast and longest reaching weapon in the game next to maybe a spear or brandistock if the Vangaurd knows what he’s doing. I see what Slygoat means now! Another thing is the animations can be very choppy at times, but I realize it’s still beta and you guys are hard at work making this game optimized and ready for release. I would also like to bring up the “press Q to feign”, as a Warband vet I’m not entirely a fan of this system but I’m glad you decided to include feigns at all. One thing you may want to try is to make RMB the feign button too. So you could press RMB once to stop your swing and be ready to parry right after. This would probably stop a few of the DPS matches between knights that happen all the time, since you can feign and then parry using just one button instead of a button on both your mouse and keyboard. Regardless of those observations I have no doubts that this game will be one to remember. Good luck and thank you so much for putting time into this game!
Noticed this as well, kind of weird killing someone with a mace 30 feet away.
Talked to Mr. Goat in game and he said to check this thread.
Updated my drivers and tried the “MinCompressedDurationGame” set to 3 and it runs a little better now, I can get 60 FPS up to about 20 players, 8-) where before if there was anywhere near 10 people my FPS would drop like a rock.
My specs are; Intel i5 2500k and nVidia EVGA GTX 560TI, with 8Gb of RAM, and an Asrock Z68 E3G3 Mobo.
