There’s also more than one server too join. Yes, there is an occasional round where half the opposing team is Archers, but most of the time the classes are pretty spread. If you’re in a server that you feel has too many Archers just leave and join another.

RE: Why do people play as archer?
RE: The way duels are meant to be.
Yeah, dueling is definitely fun and it helps you become a better player. It’s fun trying out every class, and each weapon, against every combination of enemy as possible. You learn how to attack a particular player. My biggest problem is dueling against aggressive Knights and pesky MAA. I’m pretty good at killing Vanguards, as long as I’m not too greedy and stay in their guard too long.
RE: The game keeps crashing!
I’ve been playing everyday since the game came out and haven’t crashed once until today. My game consistently crashes on the server list while it’s refreshing. My friend who just started playing today is experiencing the same issue. His weapon progression isn’t saving as well. It appears something occurred on Sunday that is causing these issues to occur. The game ran flawlessly up until today.
RE: Your favourite weapon?
I really like the Halberd, it’s long, powerful, and is like a spear and axe in one. I find myself stabbing with it 75%. The only time I use an overhead swing is when sneaking up behind someone, or if I know the enemy isn’t going to block and is standing still. You basically need to keep the MAA and Knights at bay when using it, if they close your guard you’re usually screwed.
RE: Weapons Not Unlocking?
This is good to know. My friend is having these issues, he just started playing earlier today. I thought he was just being stupid, but apparently he’s not the only one with the issue. I unlocked all the weapons, minus the last Javelin, the first 3 days of the games release.
RE: Thread on Archery
I really missed the the AOC style of aiming the first two days I played Chivalry. It felt off compared to the polished melee system, especially the javelin thrower. However, I’m beginning to adapt to the new crosshair system. I played exclusively as the Archer class yesterday and have begun to master the bow and crossbows. There’s a part of me that misses the immersion of AOC, but I can live with the crosshairs.
RE: It is entirely too hard to hit someone running away from you
I have the problem of not being able to hit anyone running away. However, no one seems to have that problem when I’m running away from them. There are countless times where I’ve tried to sprint with a MMA away from a Knight, only to be bashed in the back of the head.
RE: Is this worth buying?
It’s definitely worth purchasing. I think it’s one of the most addictive games I’ve ever played. You feel more immersed in combat than you do in WoTR. The animations and combat are extremely fluid. It also takes a lot of different strategies depending on what class you’re playing. Also, it’s really brutal. I just love seeing heads and limbs flying off bodies and blood squirting from extremities.
Overall, I enjoy Chivalry more than WoTr, it definitely warrants a purchase.
RE: Team Killing Epidemic
Friendly fire is part of the experience, I would be sad to see it removed. Yes, there is a TKing epidemic, but rarely is it on purpose. I believe it has to do with player lack of experience. I’ve been playing Chivalry the last two days and have noticed a slight decline in the number of TKs. People will eventually learn to start using the stab and overhand swings in confined combat. It just takes more practice to use them effectively. They will also start to realize that they don’t need to spam the attack key, this results in too many over-swings.
If friendly fire was disabled then people would just going berserk all the time. I think having friendly fire enabled results in more strategic and realistic play. Again, it will take some time for people to adjust, but it already appears to be getting better.
One more thing, ARCHERS, you need to take better shots. Yes, practice will eventually lower the number of archer TK’s. I played exclusively as an archer for a number of rounds yesterday and eventually was able to play entire rounds without killing teammates.
Practice and experience will address the issue. Just give it time and realize you’re not being TKed on purpose. For those of you who accidentally TK, Please Say Sorry, it will take a little rage out of your victims and make everyone feel better.
I think the archer is fine the way it is. It just takes practice. I was just in a server playing against a guy that almost never missed. Try aiming for the head, also there are two different types of arrows. One is better against heavily armored targets, the other is great against MAA and fellow archers. You can try aiming at people that are already bloodied. Just watch out for your teammates. I think everyone is getting tired of getting picked of by their teammate when they were getting ready to unleash a killing blow to an enemy.
