Spam hit traded as archer? Archers die in 1-2 hits. Even wen your enemy is on low health its a bad idea.
Hit trading is where you are in a position to win by trading attacks, this tactic is particularly effective when it involves taking damage to trade for the last attack required. The point I made was that with the Archer this is an entirely viable method once they have functioned as the class was intended. Conversely how does a melee class function as intended in this scenario ? By closing distance so as to engage in their primary mode of combat.
to put it into the usual framework, Knights knowing how and when to hit trade can use these methods to win decisively if they are ahead and unscathed. Would you say there is something amiss with this class strategy ? I mean, essentially the question here is whether ‘hit trading’ itself is flawed when used appropriately.
assuming said tactic is sound in itself, then consider the situation where an Archer (that on average requires two attacks to lose in melee) has functioned as intended and now with a faster weapon and movement speed only needs one attack to win against a melee class. In effect they can play like an experienced Knight might and have a peculiar advantage in the melee phase. Thus the problem with Archer actually excels in melee when all class features are incorporated into a basic situation.
edit: and for those situations where it is one attack, this only makes the battle relatively even, yet still typically favours the player who can move faster and uses a faster weapon no less.
